Dord Taste / by Marc Myers

Marc Myers is still creating ambient music. He recently sent me this CD, Dord Taste, which clicks right along as I have been maintaining this blog.

Somewhere in one of my comix the word "dord" is used in one panel. There's a funny little history with that term.

Marc also sent me a couple of my old 1994 catalogs.

Thanks Marc!

Newave Comics Survey, Book 3 / by Dale Luciano

I reprinted Dale Luciano's landmark Newave Comics Survey as one of my print-on-demand titles 1994-1996.

The Survey was reprinted into a set of four digest sized books. This particular segment was originally serialized in Comics Journal 99 (June 1985) to 100 (July 1985) and includes profiles on: Vincent Jackson, Larry "Lynski" Johnson, Kirk Kennedy, George Kochell, Richard Krauss, Steve Lafler, Lord Larry, J. Michael Leonard, Bob Lewis, John Mahomet, Randy Maxon, Roger May, Scott McClure, Rick McCollum, David Miller, Andy Mosier, Marc Myers, Clifford Neal, Tony Nichols, Jane Oliver, Doug O'Neill, Gary Panter, Parsonavich, Dave Patterson, John Peterson, Tucker Petertil, The Pizz, Marcus Reed, John D. Richards, Leonard Rifas, Larry Rippee, D.C. Roberts, Michael Roden, Walter Rodgers, Roldo, Jim Ryan, Richard Sala, Steve Scharff, Rodney Schroeter, Charles Schneider, Roman Scott, Jim Siergey, Pete Silvia, David Steinlicht.

I have never agreed with Dale's summation of Marc Myers' work in this piece and find it the most puzzling profile in the entire Survey. To me, Marc's comix are the quintessence of what Newave/Obscuro was all about.

Clark Dissmeyer Bibliography 1980-1993 / compiled by Gary Usher and Marc Myers

This was originally published in early 1994 by Gary Usher in Glenwood, Iowa on letter-size sheets. I reprinted it later in the year as one of the print-on-demand titles available in my catalog.

Publishing this was a triple pleasure for me. I got to promote the efforts of a great comix scholar, highlight the work of one of the funniest cartoonists out of the Newave, and actually get Marc Myers in print (which is sort of like getting a good photo of Sasquatch).

Now there's a project where only the bravest bibliographer dare tread-- building an accurate and complete bibliography of the work of Marc Myers. In many ways Marc's work is the very essence of Obscuro and I greatly admire that. And Marc was really the only cartoonist who could've helped Gary build such a complete bibliography of Clark's art.
