The Andrew Jackson Song

Andrew Jackson
Was a psychopath
And woe to anyone
Who incurred his wrath

Yes, he's the hero of New Orleans
But also the father of the Trail of Tears
Andrew Jackson
Was a psychopath

Postcard - New Orleans, Louisiana

"St. Louis Cathedral And Jackson Square, New Orleans, La. Erected in 1792 at a cost of $50,000 and rebuilt in 1851. The site on which the St. Louis Cathedral stands was selected in 1718 by Bienville for a place of worship. In 1724 a structure of brick was erected and known as the Parish Church of St. Louis. It was destroyed by fire in 1788. Extreme right Pantalba Building where the Elite of the city dwelt."

1920s?

One of my favorite cities.

Louis and Keely

Now here's a guy who can blend the Blues with joy. Sort of like when you're walking through New Orleans and smell that unique sweet blend of putridness and perfume and still have have feeling of well being. No other place has this odor. I would move there in a minute if circumstances allowed.

Anyway, Louis Prima was from New Orleans and carried the sound of that great city into his music. I found a clip on YouTube that helps me feel good no matter how sorry I feel for myself.

Here it is, check it out:

Nadine plays only sound cassette, and I have been enjoying Louie and Keely on old technology while driving.

Happy Monday everyone!

On the left, the Girod House in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The third floor was supposedly added with the intention of being a friendly place to house Napoleon in exile. This building was featured in the early part of Oliver Stone's movie JFK. The building on the right once was a slave market.Add Image

Pirates Alley, New Orleans

Supposedly the spot where Gen. Andrew Jackson and the pirate Jean Lafitte met to form an uneasy alliance in planning a strategy to successfully defeat the British in the 1814 Battle of New Orleans.
