Goodbye Neil

When Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the Moon in 1969, I wasn't glued to the television. I was camping, sitting by a campfire on a starlit night, staring at Luna in total wonder and amazement, knowing people were up there. The launch of Sputnik, the first satellite, had only been less than a dozen years before, so the enormous technological strides to achieve this goal in such a short time was truly impressive. As Neil said, this really was a giant leap for mankind.

1000 years from now, probably the only event of our time that will earn a notch on any chronology will be the 1st Moon landing in 1969. Real heroes are hard to come by. Neil Armstrong was a real hero.

Washington State House Rep Basich served the 19th District (Grays Harbor area) in the 1980s and 1990s. I am pretty sure I picked up this button in 1988.

What I love about this necktie is that I can spill all kinds of junk on it, and no one will ever know!

Favorite Movie Quotes: Bad Girls

"Grand territory, Oregon. I spent a couple of years there, once. A lot of rain, a lot of logs. I don't like either."

This film would've been more appropriately entitled: Bad Movie

Max is Max Vekich, State House Rep from Washington State's 35th District (chiefly Grays Harbor area) in the 1980s. I believe I picked up this button in 1988.

Bonker tried and failed twice for the Washington State Office of Secretary of State. First in 1972, when I picked up this button, and again in 2000.
