"Trojan Nuclear Power Plant, Rainier, Oregon. Located on the banks of the beautiful Columbia River, separating Washington and Oregon, is this 499 foot cooling tower, landmark of this area. Trojan Nuclear Power Plant produces 1,000,000 kilowatts and is owned by Portland General Electric, Eugene Water & Electric Board, and Pacific Power & Light."
1970s.
Craig Bartlett had a great comic story using this plant as a setting in Tales From the Steam Tunnels.
The plant was decommissioned in 1993. The tower was blown up real good in 2006.
Although Rainier, Oregon is close to the site, it would be more accurate to say this postcard photo was taken near Prescott, Oregon, which where I hid Morty Comix # 2562 last April.

Postcard - Astoria, Oregon
"The bridge across the mouth of the mighty Columbia River linking the southwest corner of Washington State with Astoria, Oregon."
1960s.
This photo was taken from the Oregon side. Driving on this bridge can get pretty exciting when the wind is kicking up.

Postcard - Vantage, Washington
"Vantage Bridge, Washington. Almost a half-mile long, this truss steel and concrete span across the Columbia River represents $4,500,000 in gasoline taxes. Years ago, the same crossing was served by the noted Vantage Ferry. The new structure and the easy-driving approaches were built by the Washington State Department of Highways."

This obscure spot next to the railroad tracks just outside of Longview, Washington has a sign marking the area as the site of the 1852 Monticello Convention, where settlers who lived north of the Columbia River in the Oregon Territory created a petition to form their own political subdivision because they wanted to have the freedom to pump gasoline into their vehicles on their own. This was the beginning of what later became Washington State.

Postcard - Longview, Washington
"Longview Bridge, Port of Longview and Mt. St. Helens, Washington. Located 66 miles upstream from the mouth of the Columbia River is one of the finest inland ports in the nation. This bridge spans the Columbia and connects Longview to Rainier, Oregon. Magnificent Mt. St. Helens in the background."
Probably from the 1970s, and definitely before Mount Saint Helens blew up in 1980, losing that nice pointed cone top.
