Morty Comix # 2482

Morty Comix # 2482 was left under a pile of freebie ad sheets in a laundrymat in McCleary, Washington. Filmmakers Louise Amandes and Ron Austin recorded the event for possible use in their documentary, Bezango WA. It was a caper.

So back in May I noticed that someone here in town was taking down my posters promoting Mini-Comics Day, ripping them up, and throwing them in the trash from the Post Office bulletin board. Somehow I accidentally hit the video button instead of the photo button on my phone. So here you have it.

Morty Comix # 2481

In the dead of night I went to my tool shed

And grabbed a clam shovel.

I don't actually dig for clams even though I live close to the Coast. I have fond memories of clam digging with my Dad when I was a kid, but that's because I was spending time with my Dad. Today I use the clam shovel when I clean out my woodstove and stovepipe. Here's my woodstove almost two years ago after I replaced the old stovepipe. Notice Buster in the lower left corner doing what he does best-- eating.

The place where I bought that stovepipe in Olympia ironically burned down in April, 2011 shortly after my purchase.

But, back to comic art. Morty Comix # 2481 was placed inside a big plastic bag

And wrapped tightly to keep it from getting wet

It was buried under a lid of turf thanks to using the clam shovel

Now it is under a street lamp in McCleary, Washington where it will be unearthed by archaeologists in the distant future.

An unusual entry in the gallery of discarded portable dental floss. The handle is missing, leaving only the disgusting part that cleaned gunk out of someone's teeth. Maybe someone became too enthusiastic in their cleaning and broke the handle in the process.

On reverse: In any language-- We try harder. AVIS rents the dependable Dodge and other fine cars. AVIS, printed in U.S.A.

Obviously this button was created before Avis moved to chiefly GM vehicles in the late 1970s. For some reason I think I acquired this one in 1973.

The incredibly high winds and sand in the air give this shot a sort of impressionist appearance

Buttons - Holidays - 1980s

Looks like some kind of home crafted button, baked in plastic and designed to be worn in order to avoid getting pinched on St. Patrick's Day.

What an extra weird holiday tradition.

Once again, another button with mysterious origins.

Made out of wood and shaped like a mitten, this Christmas season button looks home crafted. No clue who made it, or when, or where, or how I happen to have it.

Morty Comix # 2479

Morty Comix # 2479 was left in one of the public bulletin boards in McCleary, Washington. The main grocery store (with a great staff!) has some James Abbott murals on the side. Nadine is the only vehicle in the parking lot. This building was constructed in the 1940s and some say it is haunted.

In the last photo on the far left you get a glimpse of the seamy underbelly back alley in our thriving metropolis.
