Postcard - Seattle, Washington

"Seattle, Washington. Breath-taking view of the Queen City from high atop Queen Anne Hill. World famous Space Needle in the background and magnificent Mount Rainier 90 miles in the background."

1970s, maybe the first half of the decade. Yes, the word "background" was used twice in one sentence.

Morty Comix # 2567 was drawn on a slip of yellow graph paper, rolled up, and placed inside an empty matchbox, which was in turn left at a bus stop under huge power lines in Tumwater, Washington.

Postcard - Seattle, Washington

"Seattle's downtown business district and the Kingdome, with snow-covered Mt. Rainier in the distance, as seen from the top of the Space Needle. Mt. Rainier is 14,410 ft. (4,395 m) high and 90 miles (144.81 kn) away from Seattle."

Late half of the 1970s, I imagine.

"Seattle, Washington. This photo, taken from the Space Needle, shows the Grosvenor House in the lower left. The monorail track leads to the circular Washington Plaza Hotel. The black building is the Sea-First Bank and in the background is the multi-purpose Kingdome. On the right is a portion of the waterfront and Elliott Bay. Sixty miles to the south is Mt. Rainier."

Later half of the 1970s.

Spongebob Omen

So on Monday morning I get out of the car at the parking lot at work and find this lone Spongebob Squarepants/Sandy Cheeks playing card on the ground, greeting me. I think Fate is trying to send me a message-- but what?

Postcard - Seattle, Washington

"The Space Needle, Seattle, Washington. This Seattle landmark rises to the height of 600 feet and is topped by a restaurant which revolves 360 degrees every hour. About 260 persons can be served. An observation deck and snack service is also atop the Needle for those who wish to feast mostly on the tremendous scenic panorama."

Late 1970s is my guess. No later than 1981.

"The Downtown Business District of Seattle, Washington. The towering 600 ft. (183 m) Space Needle is seen in the foreground, the Kingdome on the right, and majestic, snow-covered Mount Rainier is clearly visible in the distance, 100 miles (160.9 km.) away."

Taken in the late 1970s or 1980, when I lived in Seattle. Such a great city. I prefer it to Portland, although I know that is not the hip way to think these days. But look at our histories and you'll see Washington is a much more progressive state.
