Phone photo 2125

An unusual entry in the gallery of discarded portable dental floss. The handle is missing, leaving only the disgusting part that cleaned gunk out of someone's teeth. Maybe someone became too enthusiastic in their cleaning and broke the handle in the process.

Discover America

On reverse: In any language-- We try harder. AVIS rents the dependable Dodge and other fine cars. AVIS, printed in U.S.A.

Obviously this button was created before Avis moved to chiefly GM vehicles in the late 1970s. For some reason I think I acquired this one in 1973.

The incredibly high winds and sand in the air give this shot a sort of impressionist appearance

Buttons - Holidays - 1980s

Looks like some kind of home crafted button, baked in plastic and designed to be worn in order to avoid getting pinched on St. Patrick's Day.

What an extra weird holiday tradition.

Once again, another button with mysterious origins.

Buttons - Holidays - 1990s?

Made out of wood and shaped like a mitten, this Christmas season button looks home crafted. No clue who made it, or when, or where, or how I happen to have it.

Morty Comix # 2479

Morty Comix # 2479 was left in one of the public bulletin boards in McCleary, Washington. The main grocery store (with a great staff!) has some James Abbott murals on the side. Nadine is the only vehicle in the parking lot. This building was constructed in the 1940s and some say it is haunted.

In the last photo on the far left you get a glimpse of the seamy underbelly back alley in our thriving metropolis.

Honorary Police
Burlington, Iowa

Buttons are not something I collect, they just sort accumulate here. I have absolutely no idea how this particular specimen found its way to my house. I have never visited Burlington, Iowa. In fact I've only been through Iowa on a train long ago and never actually set foot on the soil of the Hawkeye State.

It looks like this originally had a soft metal flap at the top that could be used to fold over a shirt pocket but has long since broken off. To remedy that situation someone used blue electrical tape to hold a safety pin on the reverse side.

If my memory serves correctly, this button was issued on the occasion of Evergroove's 15th anniversary since opening in 1971.

Favorite Movie Quotes: Phenomenon

"Why do you have to tear him down? What are you so afraid of? What do you got to lose? He wasn't selling anything. He didn't want anything from anybody. He want nothing from nobody! Nothing! Nothing! And you people have to tear him down so you can sleep better tonight? So you can prove that the world is flat and sleep better tonight? Am I right? I'm right. To Hell with all of you. The Hell with everyone."
