Awhile back I asked for contributions for a minicomix jam. Here's what I posted on December 15:
Also, I'm thinking of putting together some new minis. One idea I have is to invite 8 or more artists to send me a page for a minicomic with a random image or images. I'd put all the pages together and form a story. It builds and expands the concept of the minis I drew with Dale Luciano at Dada Gumbo. If you're interested send me a page via email or snail mail. It has to be clean enough so I can show it to my aging mother but crazy enough to make my grown daughter roll her eyes and wonder when her Dad is ever going to grow up.
Well, Brad Foster has sent in the first drawing via email attachment! I need 7 more comix artists to send me an image. Help force me out of my lethargy and get me back to the drawing board, jump into this comic and send me a drawing. It can even have a word balloon with a random piece of dialogue if you like.
Hey Steve. I've got a lot of old-and-new cartoonist folks hooked in over on my Facebook page, so I've just put up a link to this ove there, and hopefully a couple of them might even get in touch with ya on this project.
ReplyDeleteI can send a page. What are the details?
ReplyDeleteJust send me a simple illustration that can easily be used in a minicomic panel. I'll use it in a story based on the images I get. It has to be clean enough so my Retirement Village Mom can read it. But crazy enough to make my adult daughter shake her head in sad wonder.
ReplyDeleteHey Brad, thanks for sending some of the comrades this way. Heard from Roldo too!
ReplyDeleteSo far we have Brad Foster, Roldo, Harry Bell, Bob Vojtko, and Bruce Chrislip. This is great!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to give it a go, also, if there's still space.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Another name from the classic Newave era! There will always be space, because if this comic fills up too fast then I'll just start another.
ReplyDeletehow many pages can I send. i gots lots of folders with stories
ReplyDeleteHey another old guy from the Newave days! Hi Macedonio! All I need is one image per comic. Simple is good. If you want to send me a whole bunch of images and let me select one, that's great too, and I can use them one at a time in more than one book. You can send it snail mail or as an email attachment.
ReplyDeletebut what is the theme of the book? what is the title or titles. if i don't have a single page piece i'll draw one up special for your book, otherwise i'll e mail you various others to peruse or use
ReplyDeleteGood questions, Macedonio. Here's the deal: 8 people send me 8 very different images. Not really pages, but just a single picture of something, like a fish in a bowl, or guy standing on a cloud, whatever. It can even have a word balloon. I put them together and build a story based on what I have to work with. So the comic will sort of write itself and the title will be evident when I see what I've got. Hope that helps. You can send me any sort of image, my only requirement is that it is clean enough for a general audience so I can hand it to younger comix folks. It be great to have one of your drawings in there!
