Morty Comix # 2546
Morty Comix # 2546 was left in an interesting public bulletin shelter in Steilacoom, Washington. Rather than posting this comic as a notice I stuck it in the rafters. There was one public declaration that really stood out, about how the Post Office helped a soldier from neighboring Fort Lewis.

Postcard - Ocean Shores, Washington - 1970s
"Ocean Shores Golf Club. Home of Pat Boone Celebrity Classic. Ocean
Shores, Washington 98551. Eighteen Holes - 6145 Yards - Par 72 -
Providing many challenges the first nine holes border the man-made
canal. The second nine holes are lined with beautiful trees."
"Long tee shots and large velvet greens provide a golfing experience on a course often referred to as the finest in the West. Club House has a coffee shop, dining room, 19th Hole, Sauna Baths, Electric Carts, and a Pro Shop featuring fine sports wear and equipment. Centrally located, these facilities cater to conventions and special Tournaments."
Probably from the 1970s.
I have a lot of Scots blood, but the allure of golf remains elusive to me. I think Robin Williams' bit on golf pretty much pegs my attitude on this surreal sport. When my Father was in his 20s he had a set of golf clubs, the bag, etc. because he thought knowing the sport would help him rise in the private sector. We're talking JFK era here. He always called those clubs "idiot sticks," and promptly dumped them when we moved from the city to the farm.

Favorite Movie Quotes: Murder, My Sweet
"Now this is beginning to make sense, in a screwy sort of a way. I get
dragged in and get money shoved at me. I get pushed out and get money
shoved at me. Everybody pushes me in, everybody pushes me out. Nobody
wants me to DO anything. Okay, put a check in the mail. I cost a lot not
to do anything. I get restless. Throw in a trip to Mexico."

Morty Comix # 2545
Morty Comix # 2545 was part of a mini-drama. Nadine, my 2000 Buick Regal, picked up a machine bolt in one of her front tires. So I had to take a day off work, limp over to the neighboring and larger town of Elma on a toy spare tire, and have my real tire patched by a great regional tire chain-- in fact, the very best place to go for tires in Washington and Oregon.
While I was in the waiting room, I noticed a side table had a little drawer, just big enough to house a Morty Comix. It was like the piece was built for this purpose!

Marmite, butter, and peanut butter on hot waffles. A taste treat that can't be beat. Using a paper plate only enhances the atmosphere. Hey, normally I just eat over the sink so this is fanciness.
Postcard - Ocean Shores, Washington
"Ocean Shores. Spectacular peninsula on the Washington seacoast, a
complete new resort city with golfing, sport salmon fishing, clamming,
dozens of motels, many private homes, six miles of sandy beach."

For a brief time Starhead Comix was headquartered here, located just outside the range of this camera shot, off the lower left-hand corner on Rain St.

Morty Comix # 2544
Morty Comix # 2544 was placed under a table at a Tumwater, Washington Dairy Queen. Just earlier this month Morty Comix # 2538 was placed under a neighboring table and was still there at the time this photo was taken. Placing these Morty Comix and photographing them at the height of lunchtime while remaining undetected is something of a challenge.

You must have a license in order to have a pet clam. Otherwise the local Clam Catcher will impound your shellfish companion and put it in the Clam Pound. And it is a sad sight that jabs at your heart to walk through that facility and resist the mournful expressions of those abandoned clams who so much want a nice home.
So please, clam owners, license your clams and while you are at it make sure they get all their vaccinations.

Morty Comix # 2543
Morty Comix # 2543 was tucked into the flap of a box that serves as a display for tooth care in my all-time favorite dental office. My dentist would probably advise that fellow with two mouths to buy floss in bulk.
