To Our Tornado Alley Comrades

A couple months ago I was honored to be invited to SPACE, held in Columbus, Ohio, and met a great group of Midwestern cartoonists.

And now during all the news of these devastating storms clobbering the country's midsection I can't help but wonder how many of you guys have been dramatically impacted by this. Hope you're all surviving the weather safe and sound.

Chad Woody recently posted a pretty sobering bit about finding Joplin, Missouri hospital x-rays at his workplace.

  1. Turned my found x-ray in to the post office today, which will gather them for Joplin records. Just heard on NPR that many of the 130+ dead are not to be buried until comprehensive ID procedures are fulfilled, which means families have been waiting almost a week for burials even if they have IDed their loved one. Plus it keeps storming here, and lightning struck two people working in the disaster area. To top it off, the donated supplies began arriving by the semi-load and have already overwhelmingly exceeded the need for most items, to the point where they're crying uncle. My wife may go there next week to help senior citizens, as their Office on Aging has missing personnel.

Just minor tree damage here in Springfield, luckily.

  2. How tragic and surreal. Glad to hear you're OK, Chad.
