Not a bad literary lineup for little old McCleary, Washington.

City Limits Gazette # The world is so big and we are so small, yet we're turning it to shit in no time at all (Dec. 1992)

Logo by Maximum Traffic, Evergreen Mafia, CLG 1992 index, Ricardo Nancy McJacksonstein responds to Max, Bil Keane Watch by Jeff Snee, CLG reader profile of Brad Foster, yet another Bil Keane Watch by Russell Rose, ye gods another Bil Keane Watch by Bryan Willis, (sigh) another Bil Keane Watch by Maximum Traffic, Ahab the cat 1982-1992, Comics Journal small press index by Gary Usher.

The "Evergreen Mafia" article cited above is included here. I'm guessing David George was the editor who reprinted this profile. David no doubt supplied the names of us lesser knowns, padding the list a bit within those square brackets since we were not listed in the original piece. The term "Evergreen Mafia" was first coined by Jay Kennedy ca. 1982.

Thank You Bryan!

My brother Bryan finished a project today, completing a hallway shelf for my collection of VHS videos and DVD movies. He did a beautiful job and it is the first time I'm able to access the whole library in one place. This is a big deal.

I reviewed many of these on OlyBlog in my Cheaper by the Dozen series.

Our Father, may he rest in peace, was a jack of all trades including being a decent carpenter. I think Bryan inherited the carpenter gene as well as the how things work gene.

Anyway, here's a big public Thank You to my brother, Bryan, for making a big difference here at Casa Morty in McCleary.

Bezango: Big Boom!

Olympia Power & Light, May 4-17, 2011.

A photo of my cousin, Patty, back in the 1960s. She was visiting us from Vancouver, Washington and we set her up on the tractor. In the background to the right is the hill where the dynamite was planted. Patty is sitting not far from where the huge piece of wood landed. This should give you an idea just how far that chunk of the stump sailed through the air.

The Real Breakfast of Champions

So here's my original recipe for good breakfast chow. Get some frozen beef sausages, frozen chocolate chip waffles, and Marmite.

Marmite, by the way, has recently become an illegal product in Denmark. Their loss. Some say it tastes like salty motor oil, but I say it is one of the most excellent food products on the planet.

Toss the waffles in a toaster, then after they fill your kitchen with an aroma of toasty chocolate goodness, slather a generous portion of Marmite on one side of one waffle. As you can see in the photo, I have the super big size jar of Marmite thanks to my brother Bryan bringing it to me from England.

Microwave 3 sausages for 1 minute, 50 seconds, then place them on the Marmite, which acts as an amazing adhesive.

And viola! A better than neat taste treat and a perfect way to start a new day. I usually have 2 or 3 of these a week for breakfast.

Brian Rainville on the "Wild World of Obscuro Comix"

Olympian writer Brian Rainville tried to prepare the unsuspecting citizens of Olympia for the lecture I was soon to unleash upon them, entitled "The Wild World of Obscuro Comix" in 1993. Note the little "Willisy" detail about my brother, Bryan, and I in the final piece.
