The cartoonists issue of The Evergroove State College alumni folks. Includes profiles of Michael Swofford, Morty the Dog, Craig Bartlett, Charles Burns, Lynda Barry, Matt Groening, and Young Harvill. I didn't know Swofford, Bartlett was after my time, I remember Burns and Harvill pretty well as they were already public figures on campus but I'm sure they don't remember me. Marge Brown and I were co-workers when I worked at Evergreen's library 1986-1988. Matt and Lynda I knew as fellow students 1974-1977 and have watched their post-TESC careers with fascination.
An updated version of this issue would have to include many more names since Evergroove has now become an academic destination point for budding cartoonists.
I don't recall which one of the authors actually interviewed me by phone for this piece, but at the end a message invaded our conversation indicating we had been recorded, a reality my interviewer did not share with me at the start.
ReplyDeleteAfter the audio notice from the tape the interviewer sort of rushed his conclusion. Obviously I had pontificated beyond their expected recording length.
