Morty Comix # 2383

Morty Comix # 2383 was constructed thusly: I took a toilet paper roll, made an incision, flattened out the tube, and drew images on both sides. Then, using clear packaging tape, returned the thin cardboard to the tube format.

I like this format. I'll probably use it again.

This one was deposited at a restaurant with a train theme in an area south of Shelton known as Taylor Towne. At first I placed it at a nice display they had, but then I felt guilty since I admired their originality and realized I am still learning boundaries in this cartoon bomb business so I moved it behind one of the pamphlets in the real estate brochure area in their lobby.

  1. It was nice of Sean Connery to pose for that painting.

  2. Yes, it must have been my shared Scottish heritage with Sean that pricked my conscience and made me move that Morty Comix away from his image. I remember when Sean came down and posed for the portrait. We had a chance to talk. He apologized for his role in Zardoz, the Worst Movie Ever Made. But he's really a nice guy and I tremendously admire his ability to get away from being typecast as Bond. Only a really great actor could accomplish that given the hype at the time, which I recall quite well. I even had a James Bond 007 metal lunch box in school! Such warm Cold War visions stored in my brain cells. Anyway, he was great sport to pose for this painting and rub elbows with us backwoods locals.

  3. I apologize for watching Zardoz twice, and even more for kind of wanting to watch it again sometime. However, I must admit I am genuinely looking forward to the upcoming sequel. I certainly hope they are generous with the cgi on Mr. Connery's costume, though.

  4. No need to apologize, I first saw it in a theater when it was released, and yet have watched it numerous times on DVD since then. I even own a copy. As a librarian I have little respect for censors who condemn books they have not read, which is very common. So I have earned the right to be scathing on Zardoz. I put in my time.
