As an impressionable TESC intern interning at TCTV one of my duties was to screen the Naked Preacher's tapes before they were aired. The Nekkid One was cool unless he presented the fair citizens of Olympia a full monte. I called it the Willy Watch.
I used to tape the naked preacher since he was on so late and we would watch him later. He had a very distinctive voice. I was working at Evergreen and early one morning walking down a hallway there heard that voice and instantly knew to whom it belonged. There he was, fully clothed, talking loudly to someone on one of the free telephones in the Library building. Does any tape exist of his show?
Good question. I'm sure if any such tapes exist they would be a major contribution to the advance of Western Civilization. Living out here in the wilds of Grays Harbor County, I'm not able to view TCTV, so I never had the ability to view Jake Drake's show. But I sure experienced the fallout from his performances. Some cynics suggest the violent threats came from Jake himself in an effort to drum up publicity. Whatever. The whole thing falls into an absurdist novel Albert Camus could've written if he had lived long enough.
I took some of my TCTV training with Mr. Drake. He was completely clothed during the training and from what I remember he never mentioned that he would be naked. I remember him mostly talking about how he lived in an apartment that did not have tctv. I also still have most my copies of City Lights Gazette
