When my friend Steve Charak asked me to draw the cover for the book he had worked so hard to produce, I was flattered. Steve had always been very supportive of my comix and counted himself a Morty fan. His death in 2004 at age 51 was a devastating loss to the Olympia community.
The cover was actually the work of two of us. Garn Turner designed and provided the typography.
Do you know if any copies of this book are still around? I'm an old student of Steve's and I remember him telling us about his plans to write such a book all the way back in 1986. The world is definitely a much gloomier place without him.

Hi Ryan, glad to hear from you. It looks like Timberland Regional Library used to have a copy, but not anymore. Some smart publisher should contact Steve's estate and reprint this book. Yes, Steve was a walking fireworks display. I'd love to hear what he'd have to say about the 2012 Republican lineup! I can just hear that distinctive voice of his and imagine the wisecracks and laughter. Truly one of the good guys.
